Famous Monuments
City Palace: The City Palace is a royal palace in Udaipur, Rajasthan. Built by Maharana Jagat Singh II in 1728 and has been the home of the Mewar dynasty rulers for over 250 years. The palace complex consists of several palaces, gardens and temples set amidst lakes, fountains and marble pavilions. The most famous part of this palace is its lakefront garden called Fateh Sagar Lake.
Lakes and Waterfalls
Lake Pichola: A majestic and photographic lakesituated in Udaipur city is an artificial fresh water lake, created in the year 1362, named after the nearby Picholi village.
Fateh Sagar Lake: A must visit artificial lake named after the great Maharana Fateh Singh of Udaipur and Mewar. This lake is constructed north-west of Udaipur and to the north of Lake Pichola in the year 1680s.
Jaisamand Lake: A majestic lake situated around 70 KMS away from Udaipur. Also known as “Dhebar Lake”, this is India’s first and world’s oldest historical and second largest artificial fresh water lake in India.
Gardens and Parks
Saheliyon-ki-Bari: This garden, situated in the middle of Lake Pichola, is one of Udaipur’s most famous attractions. It was originally built as a hunting lodge by Maharana Jagat Singh II and has been restored several times since then.
Moti Magri (Pearl Hill): Atop this hill you can see some of Udaipur’s most iconic landmarks like Lake Pichola and Jag Mandir Palace from afar!
Gulab Bagh: This garden was designed by Maharana Sajjan Singh as part of his palace complex; it features lush trees and plants as well as fountains that make it an ideal place for taking photographs during any season.
Temples and Religious Sites
The temples of Udaipur are a photographer’s dream. The city of Udaipur is home to over 100 temples, each with its own unique architecture and history. Here are some of our favorites:
Jagdish Temple: This temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Lakshmi Ji. It’s one of the oldest temples in Udaipur, which was built by Maharana Jagat Singh I. This temple is located right next door from City Palace Museum!
Eklingji Temple: This temple has been around when Maharana Kumbha constructed it as part of his plan for religious revivalism after conquering Chittor Fort during an invasion from Delhi Sultanate forces.
Heritage Havelis and Mansions
Bagore-ki-Haveli: This haveli is located near Lake Pichola and has been converted into a museum showcasing the heritage of Rajasthan. The haveli is known for its beautiful architecture and intricate carvings.
Shilpgram: A must visit rural arts and crafts complex located on the outskirts of Udaipur. Here you can find traditional Rajasthani handicrafts, pottery, and textiles, and even attend workshops to learn more about these crafts.
